This month, we almost went back into debt. We broke a rule and dipped into our emergency fund to get pay off the final amount of my student loan because we were so close. We really needed that money for the car accident.
Also, we bought tickets for our 1 month trip to Uganda, East Africa this coming July/August. That was before the accident. It would have been fine if the accident had not happened. Thankfully, we do not have very many expenses here. The only time we really spend money is on the weekend and that is usually just for food. Sometimes trips to Seoul or other places. No trips this month. We have money to eat and pay the bills and all the other necessities. The only thing we might have to do is wait to pay for the school car until next month.
But otherwise, things are good. No money for savings this month, but at least we barely avoided going back into debt.
We are blessed. So very blessed.
So that's another big announcement...we are going to Africa! I am beyond excited!!! Taylor has never been. This will be my 3rd time, and 2nd time back to Uganda. I LOVE UGANDA. I CAN'T WAIT.
The first time I went was in 2005 as a freshman on a 1-month mission trip with ORU Missions. Unfortunately, all of my pictures from that trip are in a box in storage. I found one and only one on our computer.
We stayed with a missionary family living there- Tim and Jill Way and their (at the time) 4 children. They are amazing people. They have since re-located to Tulsa, Oklahoma, but Tim takes frequent trips back to Uganda. As a matter of fact, he is going there this summer and taking his daughter, Rebekah, with him. We are planning on meeting up with them.
In the coming months as we continue to plan this trip, we will provide you with opportunities to give. Uganda is a land of much need and has a special place in my heart. There are several ministries there that we plan to work with and we want to provide you the opportunity to extend a giving hand to those in need. More on that to come.
The first opportunity for giving I want to share with you is for Tim Way. We are fortunate enough to be able to finance our own trip. Tim and his family are full time ministers in Tulsa and rely on the support of generous people. To learn more about that, you can go to their website: www.wayfam.net/support.
Tim and Jill have been such a blessing in my life over the years. Back in July, when my car broke down, just a few short weeks before heading to Korea, Tim was the one who let me borrow his car. I know the Way family would appreciate your support- even if it's just a few dollars. Even if you never have a chance to make it to Africa, you have a chance to be a part of people's lives being changed through those that are going and are already there. Think about it.
Another way for you to give to Tim and Jill is to make out a check to Believers Church and in the memo, write "Tim Way" or include a note saying it's for the Way's/Uganda trip. You can mail your check to Believers Church; 4705 S Memorial Dr; Tulsa, OK 74145. Your donation through the church is tax-deductible.
More to come on Africa...
