On our trip to Marty's village, we had the privilege of giving two Chinese babies their English names. The families wanted us to give them their English name to be used one day in the future. The first child was a friend of Taylor’s student Marty. The little boy was about 2 years old and the name that we gave him was Nathan, which means “God has given.”
The second one was special because it was Marty’s nephew. During Taylor’s first trip to China, he met Marty’s family including his sister. After he left, he and Marty stayed in touch. Last year, Marty told him that his sister was pregnant and really wanted us to come see her and the new baby. I’m glad we got to make it happen. Marty’s nephew is around 4 months old. The name we decided on for him was Noah, which means “rest, comfort, or peaceful.”
